Aadhar linked Mobile Number mismatch during KYC process. What it means and what should I do ?

Modified on Thu, 15 Jun 2023 at 05:37 PM

Why should I use the same mobile number linked to my Aadhaar?

It is important to use the same mobile number that is linked to your Aadhaar for compliance with the KYC regulations issued by the RBI. By using your Aadhaar-linked mobile number, we can verify your identity more accurately and securely. This process not only ensures regulatory compliance but also streamlines the KYC process, allowing us to provide you with a smooth and hassle-free lending experience. Additionally, this also helps prevent identity fraud. By adhering to this requirement, we maintain the highest security standards, protect your personal information, and provide a trustworthy lending service.

Why is my Aadhaar check failing during the KYC process due to a mobile number mismatch issue?

As per the KYC regulations issued by the Reserve Bank of India (RBI), it is mandatory that the mobile number used for registration with Tala is the same as the mobile number linked to your Aadhaar. This ensures accurate verification of your identity. If the mobile number that you have used to register with Tala does not match with the mobile number linked to your Aadhaar, our system flags it as a mismatch and your Aadhaar check fails during the KYC process.

To resolve this issue, follow the steps mentioned below.

How can I change my Tala registered mobile number to my Aadhaar-linked mobile number?

To change your Tala registered mobile number to your Aadhaar-linked mobile number, please follow these steps:

  1. Contact our customer support team by submitting a ticket here or by sending an email to hello@tala.co.in. Upon receipt of the ticket, our customer support executive will contact you in 24 to 48 hours.

  2. For the customer support representative to be able to assist you, ensure there are no pending loan dues associated with your current Tala registered mobile number.

  3. The customer support executive will then guide you through the necessary verification process to change your mobile number.

  4. Once the change is approved, you will be able to retry your KYC / Aadhaar check.

Please note that at this point, we are not able to change your mobile number to a mobile number that already exists in our system against another customer’s profile. We regret any inconvenience caused as a result.

How can I change the mobile number that is linked to my Aadhaar?

To change the mobile number linked to your Aadhaar, you need to follow the official process outlined by the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) in their Aadhaar Update Service section of the website. It typically involves updating your Aadhaar information by visiting the nearest Aadhaar Seva Kendra.
